The Wrestling Officials Association of Section 5 presents the Official of the Year Award to the the official who receives the highest rating as determined by the ratings system. Coaches throughout Section 5 have the opportunity to submit their ratings for each official at the end of the season. Once tallied the official with the highest rating is the award recipient. 

Official ratings have been kept since the 1974-75 season and the practice of presenting an Award began in the early 1990’s
