"Dedicated to Wrestling" Since 1956

The Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association of Section 5 was started in 1956 with the goal of developing and improving wrestling in Section 5. The ideas that came from this organization became the foundation for the organization of Sectional Tournaments. In 1977, the name was changed to the Wrestling Officials Association of Section 5 because the primary purpose of the organization was to train and certify officials.

We encourage anyone with an interest in wrestling to become an official. Candidates should contact our Executive Secretary by October 1 for details. Our very thorough training program is conducted annually from mid October though Thanksgiving. Successful candidates serve as probationary officials who are certified to referee on the modified and JV levels with the opportunity to advance to varsity status after two years.
